...In the past week, East Lansing Democrat Kande Ngalamulume has stepped up his run for Michigan's 8th Congressional District seat, which Rogers won in the 2000 elections. The district covers all of Livingston, Ingham and Clinton counties and parts of Oakland and Shiawassee counties.
Just before the national tax-filing deadline, Ngalamulume issued a news release criticizing Rogers' "no" vote on the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, a stimulus program Ngalamulume said creates a federal income-tax reduction for most Americans.
Ngalamulume said Rogers voted against the best interests of his constituents in opposing the stimulus plan.
"Above all, Rogers has placed party affiliation over the needs of the people of this district, showing his values are out of step with ours," Ngalamulume said.
